The Rorabeck Bourne Joint Replacement Institute was created to serve residents of Southwestern Ontario from this time forward and to meet the increasing demand to care for patients in need of total hip or knee replacement surgery.  Joint replacement surgery has been a focus at University Hospital since it opened in 1972, but since that time the number of patients treated with hip and knee replacements has trebled! A new enlarged clinic facility was essential to accomodate the many new patients and to enable the six orthopaedic surgeons performing hip and knee replacements to assess, follow and continuously improve the care of  these patients. We are fortunate to have such an outstanding, state-of-the-art facility.
